Farming

It’s been raining here in San Diego for over 24-hours. Plus, it has been pouring just about every other day for the past month. Due to the increased and over-due moisture we’ve seen the past few weeks, the drought in California has almost completely been lifted. That’s great news for our farmers and crops. Planting crops is very similar to planting good thoughts in our minds. Positive thoughts are the key to a healthy body. Negative thoughts lead to, and create the stress response, which breaks and tears down our bodies. We can’t simply think a positive thought and expect our lives to change, however. Instead, it takes time, and requires more positive thinking or nurturing. Without the time and effort put into growing the positive thoughts, we won’t see it manifest in our bodies as good health. Instead, we will simply go around in circles, thinking a few positive thoughts and starting to produce a healthy mind, only to ruin any growth and head back in the negative direction. Farming and growing crops is no different than producing health in our bodies. We can learn a lot from watching farmers and the tenderness and care it requires to produce healthy plants. We simply need to exercise the same amount love with our own mind and bodies. Be kind to yourselves and get started on a better you! Stay healthy...

How’s Your Sleep

The importance of sleep can’t be overstated. Yet, most Americans don’t get enough of it. With the average adult getting about 5.5 hours of sleep compared to the recommended 7 hours, there’s no secret that we need to do better when it comes to recharging our battery. Speaking of recharging a battery, that’s exactly what we do when we sleep. Our adrenal glands are like little battery packs that help power quite a few activities that happen in our bodies. If they aren’t recharged periodically then our immune system gets suppressed, our energy dips, and we become irritable. One of the best ways to recharge these batteries is through sleep. There are other ways to take some stress and pressure off the adrenals, the main opportunity coming through regular chiropractic care. When you get adjusted, the overall stress in the body and nervous system decreases and helps the adrenal glands function better. Stay adjusted...

Offense or Defense

There was a great talk given by Gary Vee the other day. He brought up a really good point about his mindset which applies very well to life, specifically health. Gary never played defense growing up. He hated it, despised it. Now, with his business, he also refuses to play defense. Why strain yourself trying to predict what the competition is going to do or how they’re going to react? Why not just score more and beat them that way? A good example of this is the Golden State Warriors who consistently outscore their opponents on a nightly basis, while putting only a small amount of effort into defense. That idea can be transferred to our health as well. It’s the idea of being reactive and on defense about your health, versus being proactive and on offense. Being reactive is you waiting to see what your body does, what disease am I going to get? What problem is going to happen? Instead of approaching it by eating, moving, and thinking as well as you can, all the time. Why waste you life and health on defense? Play offense more and reap the rewards. For the next 30 days try playing offense at top speed and let us know at the end of the month how much better you’re feeling! Stay healthy my...

New Year, New You

Welcome to 2017! If 2016 wasn’t your favorite year or left a little to be desired, don’t worry, you’re not alone. However, nothing is keeping 2017 from being your best year yet! Let’s take some time to discuss New Year’s Resolutions. They’re extremely common and the popular choice is to usually go with something health related. The trouble with New Years Resolutions is that very few of them actually resolve anything. Instead, they burn brightly for a few days, even weeks, and then burn out in a flash. In the end, nothing is really gained from the experience. Well, this year can be different. Most resolutions fail because they’re set up that way. They are huge endeavors, instead of small chewable bites. We can make a huge positive change in our health by simply shifting it a few degrees. Over time this approach pays huge dividends. So, for this new year, why not focus on some small steps that you can take towards a better, healthier you. Instead of playing for the short run, play for the long-term. This is the only way health happens, small steps with consistent effort, every day. Stay Healthy...

Season’s Greetings

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Regardless of your religious affiliation or beliefs, we can all agree that the holidays are for family and friends. It’s the only time of the year dedicated to being with those we love. However, this isn’t always the common mindset of Americans. Many people instead get lost in the pageantry of Christmas, which includes all the decorations and gifts that are bought in order to make this Christmas the best Christmas! This isn’t usually the most ideal approach, as it usually leads to increased amounts of stress, fatigue, sickness, and wishing the holiday season to end. America is the land of plenty. Because of that, we have opportunity and abilities to purchase items that most people in the world would never dream of having. However, because we have such spoils, we tend to not be as satisfied with our belongings in life. After all, material items never bring true happiness and so the search for more never stops. However, we consume them like it’s the only way to reach nirvana. This time of year tends to bring this out more than any other time, which is a shame because of the beauty the holidays should represent. This holiday season, I’m going to ask you to do one thing, become aware of just how perverted our holiday season has become. Take a step back and see what you can do to be more present with those you love and care about, because ultimately, they’re your most important gifts. Do that one thing, and see what a difference it makes in your stress...

Repetition

If you want great results, you must continuously practice the activity or exercise that will bring about the results you desire. For example, take gaining muscle. For many people, having a sculpted physique and muscles to show off is important. In order to achieve the look they’re after they hit the gym routinely, usually multiple times per week in order to build their muscles so they pop out instead of droop down. If these people were to stop for a few weeks, months, or altogether, what do you think would happen to all the gains they’d experienced? That’s right, the gains would go out the window. The muscles would begin to droop and more fatty tissue would begin moving back in. Our body and nervous system is no different. Just like building muscle, if we want to build a nervous system that functions at the optimum level, without interference, it’s important to get checked and adjusted by a chiropractor routinely. Doing it once will deliver some benefit however, it will be drastly different than the results you could receive by getting checked and adjusted on a regular basis. To some this may be frustrating. However, when you step back and look at our body, this is how all processes work. A one-time experiment could show some positive change but, more consistent effort will show a tremendous positive change. Stay healthy my...

Lost in Service

The word service gets thrown around a lot these days and can be used for anything from playing sports all the way to handing out cups of soup to the poor on a Saturday. To be clear, when we talk about “service”, we mean helping those who are in need, or less fortunate than you. Mother Theresa and Gandhi portrayed this very well throughout their lives. By serving out of a sense of abundance, they changed tens of thousands of lives. We should all be striving to do the exact same thing in our daily lives. When you look around you often see that people get stuck in the rat race trying to make as much money as they can, so they can enjoy their lives. Unfortunately, happiness doesn’t come from money. It comes from fulfillment. One of the quickest ways to fulfillment is to engage in activities to give back to others. Service not only brings fulfillment and happiness, but it also brings more of what you put out. Your energy and your compassion always come back around to you. So, get into the mode of service. Give more. Love more. Serve more. Stay healthy...

Harmony

Harmony Music is amazing. Thinking about all the complexities and nuances to music can literally go on forever. One of the most beautiful things about music is the harmony, when one’s vocals blend perfectly with another’s. Music just sounds better when it’s in harmony. When it’s not, it sounds wrong, hard to listen to, like nails on a chalkboard. Just like music, our bodies work best in harmony. When we are in harmony with our environment, our bodies project health and well-being. When we’re out of harmony, disease and illness moves in. Our nervous system is constantly communicating all over our body. If there is disruption in this communication signal, there is a loss of harmony. In other words, wherever the signal was supposed to be going is effectively shut off from the rest of the body. At first there may not be symptoms. However, if left uncorrected long enough, disease begins and symptoms will usually start to increase. The nervous system is the master control of the body and it needs harmony to work. Harmony exists in all life, not just in our bodies or in music. Everything works better when it works together, as a team. See how you can produce more harmony in your body by living closer with the laws of nature. Hint: You do this by eating, thinking, and moving correctly. We will discuss each of these in more detail in upcoming blogs. Stay healthy...

Thanksgiving 2016

Since it’s Thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment and give gratitude for the opportunity to affect all the lives we’ve been able to in the last few years. Our mission has grown so much in Tijuana. It makes us so proud to see the community just across our border get more and more access to chiropractic care. When we first began going down to Tijuana, we traveled to different locations in order to see people and spread the word about our work. However, at this point in time, we can set up in a farmer’s market in the middle of town and see hundreds of people in a morning! Most people we checked and adjusted had never received chiropractic care in their lives. Now, at this point, we commonly see people who return each time we’re in Tijuana to get checked and adjusted. Not only that, but they’ve begun to bring their entire families to get the positive effects of chiropractic as well. If the next years are anything like the first two, we are set for more massive growth! We’re thankful for the opportunity to serve and bring this wonderful service to those who couldn’t otherwise afford...

Why Chiropractic

With so many different health professionals to be found in today’s landscape, why would someone choose to specifically see a chiropractor? Especially, if you’re not suffering from low-back pain or neck pain? Actually, chiropractic has very little to do with low-back pain, or neck pain. It doesn’t mean that chiropractic can’t help those conditions, because it absolutely can. However, chiropractic does a whole lot more for our bodies than just get somebody out of pain. Chiropractic restores proper communication between the brain and the cells of the body. If there is interference between the brain and the intestines for example, someone might feel constipated or experience diarrhea. When the interference is removed through a chiropractic adjustment, the body begins to function better and the constipation or diarrhea goes away. Part of the problem is the spine is located in your neck and back. Therefore, people think of chiropractors as “back doctors”. Honestly, if our spines were located in our arms, we would be known as “arm doctors”. The truth is chiropractors are doctors of the Nervous System. It doesn’t matter what’s happening to the body; pain, headaches, digestive problems, breathing trouble, etc. Once the interference in the nervous system is cleared, the body begins to function better and symptoms improve for the better.
