People differ in how they view the world and what happens to them. There’s two main perspectives people choose to operate from: abundance or scarcity. Abundance is a mindset where there’s no shortage in the world. People with this perspective often think there will always be enough money to go around(Fact: if you were to divide all the money up between every human in the world, everyone would be a millionaire). There will always be enough food. There will always be enough love, laughter, and happiness. A scarcity viewpoint is the opposite. These people usually think there isn’t enough money, so I need to hoard what I have. There isn’t enough food so I need to grab it all while I can. Resources are a finite amount, and if I don’t get what I can now, I risk not being able to survive. Both perspectives warrant consideration and could be found to be true. At Hands For Life, we choose to operate out of a sense of abundance. Without this viewpoint, we would not be able to give of our time, energy, and resources the way we need to in order to help the people we have sought out to help. We want to know, which perspective do you operate...

Our bodies are simply amazing organisms. Digestion is one process that doesn’t get the proper appreciation that it deserves. We can eat all kinds of different foods and our body knows exactly what to do with the nutrients. Consciously, we don’t even have to pay attention to what’s happening. In fact, think about the last time you ate food and had to mentally tell your stomach to secrete hydrochloric acid, or your pancreas to secrete insulin to let the sugar into the cells. Your answer is almost certainly, never. That’s because of the master control system in our bodies called, the nervous system. It controls and runs everything. Not one cell is left un-touched. When talking about our digestive system, it’s mostly under what we call the Autonomic Nervous System. Which basically means it’s subconsciously controlled. We don’t have to pay attention to it. Our bodies are so intelligent, that they simply carry out the tasks. This entire process is ready and good to go from birth, just like everything else in our body. It’s hard to ignore the amazing intelligence in our universe when you begin to look at our own...

Electricity has been around now for a number of years and has allowed us to power our homes, businesses, and more. Without it, our days would end much sooner and our nights would be much longer. Today, we live in the most connected world there has ever been. None of this would be possible without electricity. Our bodies run on electricity too. Our brains consume most of it to power the rest of our bodies. When electrical wires get old they begin to fray. As they fray they run the chance of arcing. When that occurs the possibility of a fire happens. This is not much different than the process in your body. Your spinal cord and nerves are just like electrical wires carrying the electrical impulse to and from the different organs. If there is any pressure on the nerves or spinal cord, caused by a subluxation, it’s very similar to frayed wires. Furthermore, if this pressure is not released and corrected, you risk the possibility of a fire, or having certain organs shut down where the nerves normally run. This is why chiropractic care is so vital for everyone. It helps maintain the electrical wiring inside your body. You need an electrician to take care of your wires and make sure nothing will cause a fire. You need a chiropractor to make sure nothing in your body is going to cause a fire. Stay healthy my...

Everything alive is in motion. Humans constantly move about, ants, dogs, cows, etc. Even the things we don’t typically think of as moving, such as, trees, are moving. Maybe not on the surface but when you go under the soil you see the roots growing, constantly moving and searching to find water. Also, the leaves are sprouting and growing, while the tree is constantly moving/growing toward the sun. Movement is life and without it we die. When you look at humans in a hospital, the ones moving around are generally the ones who will be leaving the hospital soon. However, when you see someone who is bed-ridden and not moving, they are usually walking a tightrope between life and death. Our spines are no different. Motion brings health and healing to the entire body. If the spine is not moving, then entire bodily function shuts down. Organs don’t work and symptoms soon follow. Restoring motion to the spine allows the body’s physiology to function better and is why chiropractic is so important to everyone’s...

Healing in our body works from the inside out. What does that mean? Think about when you have a cut. Our skin doesn’t just magically come together to become one again. First, our blood has to coagulate. Once it stops running and begins to stick together, a scab forms. Once the scab has covered the wound scar tissue begins to form underneath. For a few weeks while scar tissue has been building, the scab is removed and like magic, our skin is in one piece again. Our nervous system works the same way. All electrical impulses start in our brain and run down the spinal cord on the inside of our bodies. From there the signals go out our nerves to every single, cell, tissue, and organ in the body. It happens no other way! Unfortunately, many people opt for what we call an “outside – in” approach to healing. This is where a drug, pill, potion, or lotion is used to “fix” a problem. However, when it comes to the body, true healing can’t happen until the brain communicates with the part of the body that is ill or injured. A drug, pill, potion, or lotion won’t cause this process to happen. It happens naturally, from the inside-out, it’s the only...

Most people think of a chiropractor is a back and neck doctor. Which makes sense, because when you have back pain or neck pain, people typically go see the chiropractor. However, this assumption would be incorrect. Chiropractors are very good at helping with back and neck pain, but it’s not what they specialize in. That’s because chiropractors are doctors of the nervous system. The nervous system is made up of your brain, spinal cord, and nerves that come out from it. It just so happens the spinal cord and nerves run from your neck down to your tailbone. If your nervous system was housed in your arm, then chiropractors would most likely be thought of as arm doctors, because that’s where they would be focusing most of their attention. When there is pressure on your nervous system, you can sometimes have neck pain or back pain as a result. But you can also have headaches, ear infections, constipation, or digestive issues too. Your nervous system runs everything in your body. So, most patients who get adjusted notice many more benefits than just pain...

The purpose of today’s blog is to give some insight into the thought process behind Hands For Life. The whole idea started with a collective goal amongst chiropractors. We wanted to start an organization that would bring chiropractic care to those who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Since the original idea began, we have added to that vision to include other goals we are set on having come to fruition. Quality healthcare is difficult to come by in third-world countries. Between lack of clean drinking water and other sanitation issues, disease spreads easily and profusely through the population. Health care of any kind is extremely important in these communities and unfortunately, sometimes isn’t available. More specifically, there is almost certainly no access to chiropractic care in these poor areas. We understood the need for this service in these countries because of our close proximity to Tijuana, Mexico. The border between where we live and Tijuana is only about 45-minutes. As Americans we are blessed to live in a place full of so much prosperity. However, just a drive away is one of the most distressed communities in the entire world. We couldn’t live with ourselves if we didn’t take some of our abundance and give to those in need. Hands For Life was formed to help those who need the care the most, but just can’t afford the...

Do you go to the dentist? If you answered that “yes”, then I have a follow-up question. Why do you go? The reason the majority of people go to the dentist is for a cleaning and to make sure they don’t have any cavities. We take care of our teeth very well. In fact, most people go routinely just to make sure no problems or issues arise with their teeth. Do you go to the chiropractor routinely to have your nervous system checked for problems? Understand why that’s critical to your health. The thing about your teeth is if they get bad enough, the worst-case scenario is we can replace them. The problem with using that approach for your nervous system is if there is a problem, you can’t just replace your spinal cord. Like the cavities in your teeth, the problem areas in your nervous system, which we call subluxations, don’t get better on their own, they get worse. So, someone may have two subluxations which are contributing to digestive problems and low-back pain. But if they don’t do anything about them, those symptoms may turn into more serious issues like high blood pressure or diabetes. Why take the risk? Our teeth can always be replaced, our nervous system can’t. Get checked by a chiropractor trained to locate and correct subluxations. And make sure your greatest asset, your health, will be there when you need...

What does a healthy nervous system mean for you? Hands For Life has 3 main areas of focus, and one of them is to help the financial hard-shipped population achieve an efficient nervous system. The reason a healthy nervous system is so important is because it’s what runs everything in your body. No cell or tissue goes un-touched by your nervous system. Without your nervous system, your heart wouldn’t know when or how to beat, your lungs wouldn’t be able to expand to allow you to breathe, and your muscles wouldn’t be able contract to help you lift your arm. When your nervous system is functioning correctly, then your body is able to perform all the things it needs to do. It also should be able to fight off any virus, bacteria, or disease. However, when the nervous system is compromised, or not working efficiently, then our body begins to break down. We believe everyone on planet earth should have their nervous system checked for interference or issues. If that was the case our world would be much better...
